I am super excited about this announcement. If you are not familiar with the UK bassist Steve Lawson you should be. Granted, Steve has made a major name for himself as one of the coolest solo bass artists on the planet. His unique use of loops has inspired teams of players all over the world. Steve also is a super cool soul and was eager to join the LNFN Team of artists.
Even cooler than just being part of the cause Steve took it up a notch and will be joining the already stellar group of artists onboard for the Low Notes for Nashville Benefit Concert on June 17th at Douglas Corner in Nashville, TN. Steve will be doing his thing along with the already amazing lineup and doing his part to help Music City’s fallen. This truly does not suck. Here is what he had to say.
“Aside from the obvious human tragedy of the flooding, and the significance of nashville as one of the world’s leading music hubs, it’s a city that has meant a lot to me personally over the years. I have so many friends in the city, friends who take their much of their inspiration from living in the creative apex that is Nashville and then share that inspiration with those of us outside of the city. So many great things have come out of Nashville and impacted my life in a positive way, so the chance to give something back at the Low Notes For Nashville gig is one I’m happy to be part of.”
Thanks Steve and I can’t wait to groove with ya.
I am overjoyed by all of the support from the bass community. Artists are helping us with our video campaign, donations are slowly building up, and every little bit helps. Due to the devastation though we have a long way to go. With that being said legendary funkster Vail Johnson as well as yours truly here are both donating basses out of our personal collections for the cause. Vail is donating an Aslin Dane MM5 and I am donating my Luna Paz Lenchantin signature model with EMG PX series pickups. We’ve come along way in donations but there is so much still to be done and this is a little extra from both of us.
In addition to donating gear, Vail and I will be performing together at the Low Notes Benefit Concert on June 17th at Douglas Corner in Nashville, TN. We are two from over a dozen bassists participating and I am excited to take the stage with not only a gifted musician but one of my personal heroes. It shall be funky and for a great cause.
The outpouring continues and we need you. Please donate what you can and lets keep changing lives.
I’m just tickled pink to welcome another old friend – the handsome and talented Mahlon Hawk. Like Sean and I, Mahlon has worked both sides of the industry, as a bassist, and as a businessman. When we met, we hit it off immediately, and became fast friends.
When I first told Mahlon about what was going on, we had a slight disconnect, in that he though I was talking about the NAMM ’11 winter show. Poor guy, he’s thinking he’ll take a short trip to Cali to take part.
Then I said something about “just a couple of weeks” and he realized I was talking about the summer show. But he so wanted to be a part of it, that he’s flying out sole for the purpose of doing the benefit concert with us.
That, folks, is dedication bass-style!
So, please join me in a HUGE Nashville welcome to Mahlon Hawk! Welcome aboard, brother.
In service of the groove,
Lane on Bass
